Diplomatiska servisa medicinas centrs - Dita Daugina - Unacceptable behavior

If you're a woman with a gynecological problem, don't ever make an appointment with dita daugina at diplomatiska servisa medicinas centrs in riga. That goes double if you're a foreigner: ms daugina clearly doesn't approve of those.

Having come down with a viral infection, i made an appointment with ms daugina. As i had never seen this doctor before, i had no idea what to expect. I had, however, had the same viral infection a couple months prior and therefore was familiar with the treatment process. The only treatment available for this type of infection is an antiviral medication. The infection is in no way connected to pap smears, pelvic exams or other gynecological procedures. The whole treatment is straightforward and doesn't require anything except medication.

Ms daugina was very aggressive towards me because i truthfully told her i had never got a pap smear and didn't intend to do so in the future. For some reason, she was convinced i was going to die from a myriad gynecological diseases related to not getting yearly pap smears and that, somehow, she would have to pay for my treatment. This does indeed sound absurd, but ms daugina did appear to be extremely apprehensive of such an outcome. I told her there was no danger of that ever happening since i would seek medical treatment in a different country if her fears ever came to pass. Ms daugina appeared extremely offended by that too. (damned if you do, damned if you don't.) presumably, in her eyes, nobody is supposed to even entertain the thought of getting medical treatment in a location of their choice. Also are they not supposed to - god forbid! - be foreigners. That is rather ironic considering the clinic in question is private and caters to foreigners as per its own website. If a doctor is of the xenophobic persuasion, they would do well to keep it to themselves.

According to ms daugina, my viral infection was due to stress which in turn has its metaphysical roots in my personality (which ms daugina, of course, didn't approve of) . Stress is a very real thing. Ever had a death in your family or other worries? There you go. I didn't ask for a psychological evaluation but for an appointment with a gynecologist. Ms daugina, however, felt the need to pepper a medical appointment with pop psychology.

Ms daugina did a pap smear on me without prior consent. This is a clear violation of boundaries. Obviously, i didn't give my consent to her sending off the material to a lab. Ms daugina was very miffed. She clearly does not believe in bodily autonomy. Well, i have this to say: if people can choose not to get a vaccine for a contagious disease that has managed to paralyze the entire world, i can choose not to get pap smears. Last time i checked, cervical cancer isn't contagious.

So please do yourself a favor and do not visit this doctor. Ms daugina's bedside manner is nonexistent. I felt extremely violated by her attitude towards me. A patient is not an object for a doctor to vent their frustrations on.
